Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which age group do I register to trial for?
Age groups are based on the age you are turning. Players must trial for the division that corresponds to their age bracket:
Turning 15 → trial for U17
Turning 17 → trial for U19
Turning 19 → trial for Open Men’s or Open Women’s
The competition by-laws requires players turning 15, 17 and 19 are no longer eligible to play for lower age divisions.
2) If I am a returning Wolf, does that guarantee me a place in the club?
No. While we love welcoming returning Wolves back each season, being a returning player does not automatically guarantee selection. All players, both new and returning, are required to trial and are assessed based on current performance, team needs, and overall balance across squads. However, as a returning athlete, there will be greater opportunity for discussion around your position and divisional desires. This ensures we place players in the best environment for their development and for the success of each team. Our coaches will engage you in mutliple conversations around your player aspirations. Please come prepared knowing what position you want to play and division. You may also be asked to consider either or. For example, would you rather be given the position of your preference or the division of your preference if it came down to it?
3) Can I turn up on the day and trial?
Yes, you can turn up on the day of trials. However, all players must be registered, have paid the trial fee, and have a completed profile in our club management system to be eligible for selection. This includes uploading a visible profile photo as part of setting up your account.
If you have not completed registration beforehand, you will be required to register, upload a profile photo, and make payment on the day before taking part in trials.
4) How many trials do I need to attend?
There are two trial sessions, with an additional callback session. Players are required to attend a minimum of one trial to be considered for selection.
Attending both trial sessions ensures you have maximised your opportunity for selection and demonstrates your commitment to the trial process. The selection panel uses multiple sessions to gain a clearer picture of each athlete, so the more they see you, the better they can assess the best fit for you within our club.
If you are unable to attend any trial sessions, you must contact the club via email and submit a video showcasing your ability for consideration.
5) What if I am unable to attend any trials in person?
If you are unable to attend any trial sessions, you must still complete registration and payment and contact the club via email before the trials. You will also need to submit a video showcasing your skills and abilities for consideration. Video submissions should highlight your key skills, game awareness, and any positions you play. Submitting a video does not guarantee selection, but it allows the selection panel to assess your ability when in-person attendance is not possible.
6) Can I trial for more than one division?
Yes, players are welcome to trial for more than one division. The selection panel will assess you within each trial group and work to place you in the division that best suits your ability, development, and the needs of the club.
In some cases, through collaboration between coaches and players, athletes may be approved to play across multiple divisions (for example, Youth Tier and Tier 2). Players wishing to be considered for multiple divisions must register and pay for each divisional trial to be eligible.
7) How will I know the result of my trial?
All trial outcomes will be communicated via email or through our club management system. We aim to have results sent within one week of the last trial session. Emails or system notifications will include information on whether a player has been selected, placed on a waitlist, or not selected, ensuring all athletes are informed promptly and clearly.
8) Are refunds available if I cannot attend trials?
Trial fees are non-refundable. They cover administration, venue hire, and coaching costs. Please ensure you are able to attend or submit a video if required before completing your registration and payment.
